"What is Emotional Growth ?"
We grow up learning how to care for others—when to smile, what to say, when to stay silent. We're taught to
be kind, to give, to be good. But no one really teaches us how to be good to ourselves. We’re trained to
adjust, to shrink, to mold ourselves into versions that fit in with the world, even when we stop fitting
within our own skin. We remember everyone’s needs, we show up for everyone else, and somewhere along the
way, we forget how to show up for ourselves. We become strangers to our own reflection—not because we don’t
care, but because it’s easier than facing the noise within. It’s easier to numb than to feel, easier to run
than to rest. But the truth is, if we don’t stop to listen to our own hearts, no one else will. And that
isn’t anyone else’s fault—it’s ours. It’s our responsibility. So maybe today, I choose differently. I choose
me. I choose to feel, to pause, to heal. Not by hurting others, but no longer by hurting myself either.
Because real compassion—deep, honest compassion—must include the person in the mirror too.
